And…we’re off…week 4 (already)! This week we will continue reading Because of Winn Dixie and talking about regions of Texas and influences. We get to go to the library this week…woohoo!!!

A reading log, spelling words, and a spelling choice board is being sent home today with your child. Your child wrote the spelling words in the planner in case the list gets lost. The spelling choice board choices for this week will be due on Thursday of this week. Reading logs are due 9/25.

Just a reminder that Scholastic book orders are due Tuesday.

We will begin a Friendship unit on Monday. This will include doing a novel study that begins on Tuesday. Yes, we will begin Because of Winn Dixie. Kids (and teachers) love it!!!!

We will be reviewing map skills, discussing landforms of Texas, and creating a state using the information we have learned in Social Studies.

The first week of school is in the books and it was a great success!!! We are well on our way of being on a roll and learning procedures. We immediately jumped in and started doing assignments on Google Classroom to get some practice. It has been a joy getting to know your kiddos.

Next week, we will be traveling and never have to leave our classroom. We will be going on a bus tour of the regions of Texas in Social Studies and we will visit the African savanna in reading. Also, we will practice a spelling list. The students will learn about the Spelling Choice Board. Vocabulary will come later.
