April is National Poetry Month. We will be working on poetry (along with other skills) this month.
Remember: Field Trip to Athens Fish Hatchery is April 10th. All field trip money and permission slips MUST be turned in by Friday April 5th. Also, if you are attending the field trip with your child, please pay by Friday as well. Otherwise, you will have to wait in line to pay. Looking forward to lots of fun!!!!
It’s March Madness time at WO 3rd grade! We started our Tournament of Books today. We are making our way through our Sweet 16 books and determining winners. I am sharing the books we read each day with the students on Google Classroom so they can watch any time they like. The first day was a success!
It has been an AMAZING day at WO 3rd Grade!!!! We had special speakers come in throughout the day and read to our students for World Read Aloud Day. Mrs. Elder kicked it off this week and read to every class during her library time in the treehouse. Mrs. Dana Mizell got us started today with reading to the entire third grade. She even brought treats for every student! Then, Mrs. Rock and Mr. Folmar read to my homeroom class. In the afternoon, Investigator Nieves from the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office visited and read to the class. We had a friend from the office, Mrs. Cindy Hudgins, snuck up to our class to read to us. We ended the day with Mrs. Lisa Pullen reading to the third grade in the library. It was a fun time!!!
We have been busy little bees since coming back from Christmas break. We are reteaching, reviewing, and polishing up on skills.
We will be celebrating World Read Aloud Day next Friday with some guest readers coming throughout the day. Fun, fun!!!

11/14 (Wednesday)- Students who sold 15 or more items for fundraiser will ride on Big Kahuna Party Bus to Chick-Fil-A.
11/15 (Thursday)- Picture Retakes
11/15 (Thursday)- Big Kahuna Fundraiser Pick Up Day (2-5:30) in the gym. Please pick up your child’s fundraiser items during this time.
11/19-11/23- Thanksgiving Break (Happy Thanksgiving)

12/20 Christmas Party day and Early Release
The afternoon detectives were busy this afternoon….
Lead Detectives Bussey, Williams, and Vineyard had to call in detectives from all over to crack 10 important cases! These are the morning detectives that met in the library and began to use inferencing skills to crack the cases. They read the passages and looked for clues to determine who did it and how did you know.
Fun times in third grade! Be on the lookout for the afternoon group of detectives…
