We just might have a full week of school.  With the flu, holidays, and snow days, it’s been a crazy few weeks!  This week, the students were given new spelling words and a reading passage for homework.  The reading homework is due by Friday.  The spelling test will be on Feb. 1st.  We changed the spelling up this semester.  They will have words and dictation sentences.

Here’s what we are working on this week:

The students checked their supplies today and a list was sent home of things your child needs.  I told them this just might have to be stocking stuffers.  Amazingly, they didn’t like that idea.  LOL  Seriously, if you could pick up these few supplies and send them when your child comes back from the holidays, I would greatly appreciate it.  This group does a really good job of keeping up with their things!

I feel so blessed this year!  I have been so blessed with awesome students and awesome parents!  Much love!!!

Our Christmas party will be on Wednesday at 9:00.  Mrs. Bridges has graciously headed up this party for me and has some fun things planned.

Don’t forget to send your child’s Penny Christmas and a gift bag for your child.  Remember….we are asking for something very inexpensive for every child in the class (candy canes, pencils, individually wrapped candy, etc…).  We want every child to go home with a bag of goodies.  It’s the thought that counts and not the amount of money spent.  We are going to have a wonderful time and create lasting memories!

Don’t forget to sign your child out in the classroom to save me from having heart failure when I can’t find your child….hehe!

There will be no school (or school related activities) on Thursday and Friday due to widespread illnesses.  Please remember to send a doctor’s note with your child when he/she returns to school on Monday if your child missed any school.  School will resume Monday.  Stay/Get well!

Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break!  We will be diving into the Christmas season with lots of fun learning!  Vocabulary words went home today.  Test will be next Thursday (12/7).  Please make sure your child is practicing on Quizlet.

We’ve had fun learning about idioms today!   The students loved putting together the idiom puzzle pieces.  My sweet mother, a retired teacher, has been a busy bee helping me make fun activities for the classroom.  I am the laminating queen and I am not sure mom really appreciates that role that I’ve evolved into over time.  She is helping me catch up.  We appreciate all she does for us!

We will be reviewing skills this week in reading and language arts.  We will introduce explorers in social studies.   Who knows?!  Students just might have to be a part of the Sickly Sentence Rescue Squad!  😉
